Spinifex Brewing Company (SBCo.) are delighted to announce that we will be launching a pop-up bar and restaurant in Cable Beach, Broome in March 2023. With a pre- Dry Season launch date of the 1of March 2023, “Zookeepers” by Spinifex Brewing Co will be Broome’s premier, casual dining experience.
With the building permit for the SBCo Cable Beach Ale House having received approval earlier this month, Broome locals and tourists alike will be able to sit back, relax and enjoy a cocktail as they watch the construction of the heavily anticipated Ale House.
Visitors to the venue will be treated to cuisine expertly prepared by familiar faces, as SBCo. have recruited Phillip Thompson(previous owner and operator of the Sydney Cove Oyster Bar) as our new General Manager of Hospitality. Phil who has over 30 years of experience in Hospitality management, brings his wealth of knowledge in addition to his excellent team to operate this new venture for SBCo.
On joining the SBCo. team, Phil says “After two amazingly successful seasons in Broome the team and I decided to close Sydney Cove Oyster Bar and see what other opportunities arose. A chance meeting with CEO Adam Barnard who outlined his vision for the company going forward and it seemed like a great fit for both of us.
Obviously, I have great staffing connections in Broome and Sydney, and I was excited by the prospect of pulling them back together as the new venues are launched. Once my job was locked in, I put the word out to all our ex-staff, and I’m pleased to say several of them are very keen to continue working with me and the exciting new ventures that lie ahead.
We all know staffing is one of the biggest challenges in remote areas but what I love about SBCo is that they are looking beyond just Broome and want to create opportunities for staff to work across multiple venues in WA.”
Familiar to many Broome locals’ “Zookeepers” is a nod to the original venue name, operated by Willie Creek Pearls for a number of years. The SBCo team are grateful to have worked closely with the Willie Creek team and thank them for the opportunities that have arisen due to this relationship.
Willie Creek Pearls CEO, Paul Birch says “Willie Creek Pearls is delighted to be able to support bringing the people of Broome and its visitors, another new and exciting hospitality pop up with Spinifex Brewing company jumping into the iconic Cable Beach location where both the Zookeepers Store and Sydney Cove Oyster Bar have operated from in the past.”
SBCo are excited to bring this offering to Broome andto give locals a taste of what is to come in 2023.
Spinifex Brewing Co CEO, Adam Barnard says “Today’s announcement really is a significant moment for Spinifex Brewing Co, not only have we secured the lease for this highly prized location in Cable Beach, but to also be adding the expertise of Phil Thompson to our team as the newly appointed General Manager -Hospitality is a truly game changing moment in our short history.
We are determined to create a vibrant and unique restaurant offering in this dynamic location for locals and visitors, at the same time building a significant hospitality team ready to transfer straight into the Spinifex Ale House CableBeach just up the road, later in the year.
Sydney Cove Oyster Bar achieved so much in this space and with many of the staff looking to return in 2023, we are absolutely committed to delivering Broome something different and exciting in a more relaxed casual environment. At SBCo.“We’re just getting started”
SBCo will be announcing further details about what visitors to the venue can expect in the coming months.
